The PAWZ by the Sea 5k Walk/Run, 10K Walk/Run and Kids Run is presented by Animal Hospital by the Sea in collaboration with Langley Main Street Association. The event benefits Happy Hounds 4H Club and Good Cheer Pet Food Bank.
Join us for the 8th annual PAWZ by the Sea 5k, 10k Run/Walk and Kids Fun Run, Memorial Day at 9am. The event takes place on 2nd Street in Langley, Washington, on beautiful Whidbey Island.
Dogs (on leash) are encouraged to attend! PAWZ by the Sea benefits Happy Hounds 4H Club and Good Cheer Pet Food Bank.

All runners are encouraged to attend, including those on four legs (as long as they also bring a leash, 6 ft. max, no flexi leashes please).
The PAWZ by the Sea 5K/10K will be timed using the Enmotive Timing system. Results will be posted online by Tuesday.
Awards will be given to the top 5 women and men. Dogs will get rewarded too for such feats as first across the finish line, most drool, shortest legs, biggest eyes, most active tail and more.
Race goodies will be handed out at the finish line. Humans will receive shirts and goody bags. Dogs will receive treats and water.
PAWZ volunteers will also receive goody bags and official volunteer shirts.
The 5k (3.1 mile) course loops around Langley, starting and ending in downtown Langley next to Animal Hospital by the Sea at 114 Second St.
The 10k (6.2 mile) course loops around Langley, starting and ending in downtown Langley next to Animal Hospital by the Sea at 114 Second St.
The Kids Fun Run is an out and back sidewalk run from the start line on 2nd street. Kids have 3 options to run depending on the desired distance.
Option 1 (0.1 miles): Run to the stop sign at Cascade and back.
Option 2 (0.3 miles): Run to Langley Pizzeria on 1st Street and back.
Option 3 (0.4 miles): Run to Anthes and back.
Each Kids race will have an adult leading. Kids participating with a dog need to have a parent or guardian running with them.

Register with cash, check or credit card. Day-of-Race registration closes at 8:345am. Please allow ample time to find parking and walk to the start line.

Located in the heart of downtown Langley, Animal Hospital by the Sea is Whidbey Island’s newest small animal care facility. Dr. Jean Dieden, a long-time island resident, brings home almost 30 years of experience as a small animal veterinarian to best serve Whidbey’s active pet community.
The purpose of LMSA is to promote preservation in a positive manner, to develop educational and social activity programs, to assist the city in public works streetscape activities and the development of design standards, and to collaborate with other organizations engaged in similar purposes.

Good Cheer is a community grassroots charity that has been helping neighbors in need on the south end of Whidbey Island since 1962. Over the decades, this nonprofit organization 501(c)3 organization has grown into a model Food Bank, supported chiefly by proceeds from its two thrift stores.
